Invisible by day. Incredible by night. Glow in the Dark Cosmic Ceilings from Starglow FX

Here are a selection of questions we are asked the most.

Will you paint my ceiling black?
No.  The special paint we use is designed to be used on a normal 'white' ceiling. As the paint itself is also white, during the day time your STARGLOW FX artwork will be virtually invisible whilst at night in the dark, the ceiling is magically transformed in to a window on the cosmos.  Your existing decoration is unaffected by the STARGLOW FX process.

Are Cosmic ceilings just for kids?
No at all. After a tiring day a cosmic ceiling will really help you to relax and unwind (especially with a  glass of wine and a chill-out CD playing softly in the background). Why not have one done in your lounge for just that reason?

Should I have a Starglow FX Ceiling before or after I redecorate?
If you are thinking of redecorating the room, you would be advised to decorate prior to your STARGLOW FX artist visit.

We have an Artex ceiling. Will this be a problem?
No. A STARGLOW FX ceiling can be created on most surfaces, including Artex and wallpaper and will not interfere with your current decor.

How long does it take to paint a Starglow FX ceiling?
This really depends on the size of room and the theme you choose. For a typical master bedroom we usually allow for 3 -4  hours, a smaller room will take a little less time.

Will my ceiling look as good as the one in the photo ?

Every Cosmic Ceiling will look different from the next. Like any piece of artwork, no two will ever be the same. Also the ceiling in the photograph was fully charged before the picture was taken. This involves using a 'UV rich' Blacklight to 'energise' the ceiling artwork.  If you want your ceiling to look like the one in the photo you will need to use a Blacklight to charge it up.

Without a full charge it takes on a more gentle ethereal effect, which whilst not as dramatic, is perhaps a better way to help encourage a good nights sleep.

Do I need to paint my ceiling black before you begin?
No. In fact your ceiling should be white for this system to work properly.  When all the lights are turned out your ceiling (even a white one) will appear black and you will be left with a breathtaking cosmic vista of stars, gas clouds, comets etc.

Can I have just a small section of my ceiling (or wall) ?
Yes. We can design and work to your specification, from a small porthole or window to a whole room.

Will I need to empty the room or cover up my furniture?
Usually our artists can manoeuvre around a room whilst they create your Cosmic Ceiling. However if there is not enough room for this, then some items of furniture may need to be removed beforehand.  Your Artist will advise you on this when they come to discuss your requirements.  If the Artist feels furniture covers are required, they will come equipped and use when necessary.

Will I still be able to see the paint in the day time?
No. A characteristic of the special paint we use, is that it makes your STARGLOW FX ceiling artwork virtually invisible in normal day light.

Can we watch while you paint the ceiling?

Alas no. The techniques and equipments used are trade secrets of Glowtec Ltd and we cannot disclose how we achieve our special cosmic effects. Because of the secrecy of our trade, no one else is allowed in the room while the painting process is taking place.  Besides, part of the magic is not knowing how it was created.

We only have a small lamp in our bedroom. Will this be OK?

The invisible paints used to create the ceiling charge-up on Ultra-Violet (UV) light.  Ordinary lamp bulbs do not give out much in the way of UV.  The see the ceiling at its most dramatic, it would need a good charge, we would recommend using a UV Blacklight lamp to properly charge up the ceiling.

Having said that. Under low light (i.e low UV) conditions, the ceiling takes on a more gentle, ethereal effect actually preferred by some people. Whilst this 'toned down' version is less colourful, it is in many ways more realistic and soothing to the eye. So which ever version of your STARGLOW Ceiling your prefer; 'soothing' or 'WOW', your sure to be delighted.

What is a Room-Theme?
A set of furniture-safe stick-on images that glow-in-the-dark .  These images can be stuck on to a suitable flat (smooth) surface such as a wall, cupboard or wardrobe door and even a ceiling.  During the day time, these stickers appear a neutral off-white and can enhance the decor of almost any room.  At night time they come to life in the dark as a great complement to the
STARGLOW FX ceiling.

How long will the glow last?
Turn on your room's lights for between 10 and 30 minutes in order to recharge your ceiling after which, it will glow gently for 12 hours or more.  For dramatic results we recommend using a Blacklight unit which gives out a purple light that is a safe form of Ultra-Violet light. It is this light that energises the special Glow-in-the-Dark Paint.

How long will the effect last on my ceiling?
Your STARGLOW FX ceiling will continue to re-charge indefinitely as long as it has light  (daylight or electric) and has an expected life time of 15-20 years.

Can I use blacklight with my Starglow FX ceiling?
Yes. Blacklight is an excellent source of safe Ultra-Violet (UV) light which is the actual energy source of your STARGLOW ceiling. Blacklight will energise your ceiling far faster and with greater effect than normal tungsten (ordinary) light bulbs, which only give out a small amount of UV light.

Why can't I do the job myself?
Without the specialist equipment and expertise, it would be virtually impossible to recreate the night sky on your ceiling.

What is so special about the paint your use?
Recent advances in photo-luminescent (glow-in-the-dark) technology using rare minerals found deep within the earth (collectively known as "Rare Earth") have  made it possible to produce a safe water-based paint that glows 10 times brighter and 10 times longer (but also costs 10 times more to produce).

Is the paint completely safe and non-toxic?
Yes, STARGLOW ® Paint, unlike some of the older types of Zinc Sulfide based luminous paints, is totally safe, non toxic, non-radioactive and odourless.
